The Hiscott Index 3 places font sites into categories of display, "tame," and dingbats. Display means display, meaning fonts that are less likely to be used as text. "Tame" is essentially but not necessarily text fonts. Most text fonts can also be used as dislplay fonts, so this is instead used to refer to fonts that are not quite as flamboyant and take less compromises with legibilty than most display fonts. Dingbats means dingbats, meaning simple illustrations or something other than text characters.

Unlike The Hiscott Indexes 1 and 2, many sites are listed more than once. For instance, if a site has both display and dingbats fonts, that site will be listed in both categories. Click on the words "barcodes" and "Unicode and Multilingual Support" for sites with those fonts since they aren't in The Hiscott Index 3.
